| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low throne without back, his upper body nude and his lower body draped, holding an eagle with spread wings on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre upright in his left. In the left field above, the magistrate's monogram ΑΡ; below it, a sphinx seated left atop a horizontal amphora, serving as the civic symbol of Chios. The reverse legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, and the magistrate's name ΘΕΟΠΟΜΠΟΣ appears in the exergue. A beaded border frames the design. |
