| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of King Theophilos facing right, the royal diadem tied behind with flowing fillet ends visible at the nape; the hair rendered in fine wavy curls in the Hellenistic tradition. The king wears a chiton and chlamys, the drapery folds carefully articulated at the shoulder. The portrait displays strong Hellenistic modelling with pronounced facial features.
