Reverse description Quadripartite incuse square, deeply struck and divided by a raised cruciform pattern into four recessed compartments of roughly equal size, typical of the early archaic hammered technique employed at Abdera. The incuse is boldly impressed with clearly defined raised ridges forming the internal frame of each quadrant, and the overall square is set centrally within the coin's flan.
