| Obverse description | Three-quarter facing head of Aphrodite, turned slightly to the left, with finely rendered wavy hair swept back and gathered into a spiral curl behind the ear, adorned with a pendant earring visible at the cheek. The facial features are modelled with delicate high relief characteristic of late fifth- to early fourth-century Knidian die engraving. The abbreviated ethnic K-N appears in the field flanking the portrait. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of hammered Chian-Rhodian standard coinage. |
