| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large incuse square divided into four rectangular compartments by a broad cross, with vertical striations filling the upper and lower registers, creating a mill-sail or quadripartite incuse pattern typical of early Chian coinage. Across the horizontal band at the centre of the incuse square, the magistrate's name is inscribed in Greek capital letters reading ΣΩKPATHΣ, identifying the issuing authority. The incuse technique reflects the archaic monetary tradition of Ionia, and the bold lettering is deeply struck and clearly legible. |
