Obverse description A griffin seated left in profile, its curved wing raised prominently above its body, with the left forepaw lifted. The magistrate's name Σ-MOP appears clockwise in Greek letters around the upper field. In the lower left field, a potbellied satyr is depicted in a dancing pose, facing forward with his head turned to the right, rendered in the archaic Ionian style characteristic of Abderite coinage of this period.
