| 裏面の説明 | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low, cushioned throne, his body draped from the waist, holding a long scepter upright in his left hand and extending his right hand to support an eagle standing right with wings closed. In the left field, a dolphin swimming left is positioned above a monogram enclosed in a circle; beneath the throne, a monogram comprising the letters TP within a circle serves as a secondary control mark. The inscription, divided on either side of the seated figure, reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the right and ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ to the left, identifying the issuing authority. The design is enclosed within a continuous border of dots. |

Seleukos I was assassinated in 281 BC, just months after his victory over Lysimachos at Korupedion left him the last surviving general of Alexander's original successors. The Laodikeia mint — established by Seleukos and named for his mother — continued striking under Antiochos I almost without interruption, which is why this issue spans his death and his son's early reign. Distinguishing the two rulers' output from this mint relies heavily on die study rather than any explicit regnal marker.
