The "Roman Numerals" type takes its name from the markings on the coin that were initially misread as Latin numerals — a reminder that early Celtic numismatic classification was often done by scholars more familiar with classical coinage than with La Tène iconographic conventions. Attribution to a specific tribe remains unresolved; the broader group of imitative Macedonian-style tetradrachms from the Carpathian basin was produced across dozens of communities whose political boundaries we cannot reliably reconstruct. Göbl's plating of this type in the Keltische Münzen corpus placed it within a stylistic cluster suggesting production somewhere in the middle Danube region.
