Reverse description A powerful eagle stands left atop a fulmen (thunderbolt), wings closed and head turned slightly forward, rendered with detailed feathering across the body and wings. A filleted sceptre or control symbol appears to the left of the eagle. The circular Greek legend ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ runs around the periphery, reading 'of King Ptolemy.' The regnal date LΛ (Year 30) and the mint control mark ΠΑ for the Alexandria mint appear in the left and right fields respectively, providing precise chronological and geographic attribution to the reign of Ptolemy VIII Euergetes.
