Obverse description Diademed and radiate head of the deified Ptolemy I Soter facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with fleshy, naturalistic features and elaborately rendered wavy hair bound by a royal diadem. The aegis is visible at the base of the neck, a distinctive iconographic attribute associating the king with divine authority. The portrait is executed in high relief, characteristic of early Ptolemaic coinage struck at Alexandria. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse.
