Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Probus facing right, with a short beard, the radiate crown rendered in the distinctive Alexandrian style with pronounced spikes. The emperor wears a paludamentum (military cloak) over cuirass, visible at the truncation. The encircling Greek legend reads A K M AYP ΠPOBOC CEB, identifying the emperor as Autocrator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Probus Augustus. The field is relatively plain, and the design is contained within a beaded border typical of late Roman Alexandrian tetradrachms.
