Obverse description Griffin springing to the left in high relief, depicted in the archaic style with prominent folded wings rendered with fine incised feather detail, leonine hindquarters, and forepaws extended in a leaping posture. The creature's beaked head is turned slightly upward, conveying a sense of dynamic motion. An anchor device appears in the lower field beneath the griffin, serving as a secondary symbol. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, characteristic of fifth-century Thracian mint practice.

Reverse description A cockle shell (pecten) rendered in careful detail occupies the center of the design field, enclosed within a linear square border. The magistrate's name, reading EΠI ΠOΣEΩ (meaning 'under [the magistrate] Poseo'), is inscribed in Greek letters around the central motif. The entire composition is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of early Classical coinage from Abdera and characteristic of the city's distinctive reverse type throughout this period.
