The portrait exhibits a youthful physiognomy with strong facial features characteristic of late Indo-Greek coinage. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading BAΣIΛEΩΣ EΠIΦANOYΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ ΠOΛYΞENOY, identifying the king as the manifest savior. The field is unadorned, focusing attention on the royal portrait, and the coin's irregular flan edge is typical of hammered production in the Bactrian tradition. |
