| Obverse description | Facing inward at the centre of a large Macedonian shield, the helmeted head of the hero Perseus is depicted in right profile, wearing a winged helmet surmounted by a griffin's head. A harpa (curved sword) appears in the background field to the left. The entire composition is framed within the raised boss of the shield, whose rim is decorated with a pattern of alternating U-shaped and dot motifs characteristic of Macedonian royal coinage. The die-work is executed in a bold Hellenistic style consistent with the Pella mint under Philip V. |
