In the left field, the Greek letters ΠO appear above a sphinx seated left atop a horizontal amphora, serving as the civic badge of Chios and the magistrate's control mark. The reverse legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the upper right field, with the magistrate's name inscribed in the exergue. The composition closely follows the canonical Alexander III reverse type, with the Chian civic symbols distinguishing this posthumous issue. |
