| Obverse description | Celticised bust of Herakles facing right, enveloped in the lion skin headdress, the scalp rendered with stylised, abstracted Celtic linear detailing rather than naturalistic Hellenistic modelling. The mane falls in schematised strands about the face and neck, with the lion's forelegs knotted beneath the chin. The facial features — broad nose, parted lips, and pronounced brow — display the characteristic debasement of the Macedonian prototype, reflecting the Celtic workshop's reinterpretation of the Alexandrine and Philip III tetradrachm tradition. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with a beaded border visible along the upper rim. |
