| Beschrijving voorzijde | Highly stylised and Celticised head of Herakles facing right, derived from the Macedonian prototype of Philip III tetradrachms but rendered in a deeply abstracted Celtic artistic idiom. The facial features are severely reduced, with the lion-skin headdress of Herakles transformed into an amorphous, schematic outline characteristic of late Celtic die engraving. The fabric is irregular and the flan slightly convex, consistent with hammered Celtic silver coinage of Eastern European origin. Surface wear and patination obscure fine detail. |
