| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with fine artistic detail characteristic of the Amphipolis mint. The deity is depicted as a mature, bearded figure with flowing locks of hair and a prominent laurel wreath crowning the head. The musculature of the face, deeply set eye, aquiline nose, and full curling beard reflect the accomplished die-cutting tradition of the Macedonian royal coinage. The neck is broad and powerful, consistent with the idealized divine portraiture established under Philip II and continued under Philip III Arrhidaeus. |
