| Obverse description | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with exceptional naturalistic detail. The god is depicted bearded, with long flowing locks of hair falling behind the neck and a prominent laurel wreath crowning the head, its leaves and berries modelled with fine precision. The facial features display the idealized, mature masculine quality characteristic of the finest Macedonian die-engravers of the 4th century BC. The broad, slightly incuse field frames the effigy with no legend or inscription. |
