| Beschrijving keerzijde | A syncretic, pantheistic male deity stands facing in the centre of the field, wearing a distinctive flat-topped kausia hat surmounted by a thunderbolt, symbolising his composite divine nature. In his left hand he holds a cornucopiae and a kerykeion (herald's staff), attributes associating him with both prosperity and Hermes, while his right hand extends a vine branch to feed a fawn standing to the right at his feet. In the inner left field appears the Pontic royal badge of a star-in-crescent, and in the inner right field a monogram of ΠAΣ. The Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΦAPNAKOY (of King Pharnaces) runs in the fields flanking the central figure. |
