| Obverse description | Griffin springing to the left in full leap, rendered with bold, vigorous modeling characteristic of late 5th-century Abderite coinage. The creature displays a pronounced aquiline beak, a well-articulated folded wing rising above the body, and four outstretched leonine limbs conveying a strong sense of motion. A cicada appears in the lower field beneath the griffin, serving as a magistrate's symbol. The composition fills the flan with no legend, the field otherwise plain. |
