| Descrizione del rovescio | Armored horseman, identified as the Paeonian king Patraos, galloping to the right in a dynamic martial composition. The rider wears a cuirass and raises a long spear overhead in a striking pose, mounted on a spirited horse with elaborately rendered mane and musculature. Beneath the horse, a fallen enemy warrior is depicted in foreshortened perspective, trampled underfoot. The Greek legend ΠΑTΡΑΟΥ appears divided in the field to the left and in the exergue, identifying the issuing king. The overall style reflects strong influence from Macedonian die-engravers, possibly from the workshop of Philip II. |
