| Beschrijving keerzijde | Nike, the goddess of victory, stands to the left in flowing drapery, extending her right hand to crown the royal name with a wreath while holding a long palm branch in her left hand. In the inner left field, an owl stands three-quarters facing left upon an altar, above a monogram. The reverse legend in Greek characters reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΟΡΟΦΕΡΝΟΥ ΝΙΚΗΦΟΡΟΥ, identifying the issuer as King Orophernes Nicephorus. The composition follows established Hellenistic royal coin iconography, combining divine legitimation through Nike with the regal epithet Nicephorus, meaning 'bearer of victory.' |
