| Obverse description | Griffin seated to left with right forepaw raised, rendered in finely detailed relief with elaborately striated wings spread upward and backward, curling leonine body, and eagle-headed beak. The creature is depicted in the characteristic Abderite style with meticulous attention to feather and mane detail. The ethnic legend ΑΒΔΗΡΙΤΕΩΝ is inscribed around the periphery of the field, partially visible along the left and lower margins. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
