| Beschrijving keerzijde | A stag grazing to the left occupies the central field, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic detail. The Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ appears above the stag, with MIΘPAΔATOY and EYΠATOPOΣ inscribed in two lines below, identifying the issuing monarch. To the left of the stag, a star-in-crescent symbol appears above a royal monogram; to the right, the regnal year ΘΙΣ (year 219 of the Pontic era, equivalent to 78 BC) appears above a second monogram. The month numeral I (month 1) is placed in the exergue. The entire design is framed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and fruit, a hallmark of Mithridatic coinage linking the king to the cult of Dionysos. |
