| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed and youthful bare-headed portrait of Mithridates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal tradition with idealizing features assimilating him to Alexander the Great and Heracles. The hair is elaborately rendered in long, wild locks cascading behind the neck and over the shoulder, a distinctive artistic hallmark of Pontic royal coinage. The diadem, symbol of Hellenistic kingship, is tied around the head with flowing ends visible behind the ear. The facial profile is finely detailed, exhibiting a strong brow, aquiline nose, and youthful chin. The portrait is set against a plain field with no encircling legend on the obverse. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Pegasus standing left with head lowered in a grazing pose, rendered with fine detail in the Hellenistic tradition, occupying the central field. To the left in the field appears the star-in-crescent, the distinctive Pontic royal badge. To the right of Pegasus, the regnal year HΣ (Year 208 of the Pontic era) is inscribed above a control monogram. In the exergue, the letter I denotes the month of issue. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and bunches of fruit, a characteristic framing device of the Mithridatic tetradrachm series. The encircling legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ names the king in the genitive case. |
