| Descrizione del rovescio | Pegasus standing left with head lowered to graze, rendered with fine detail in the musculature of the wings and body. In the left field, the distinctive Pontic royal badge of a star-in-crescent appears above the date letters ϹΣ (regnal year 206) with a monogram to the right; the month letter E appears in the exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and clusters of fruit, a characteristic border type of Mithridatic coinage at Pergamum. The three-line Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ (of King Mithridates Eupator) occupies the right field. The composition reflects the deliberate association of Mithridates VI with Dionysus as dynastic patron deity. |
