Reverse description Pegasus standing left with head lowered to graze, rendered with fine detail in the musculature of the wings and body. In the left field, the distinctive Pontic royal badge of a star-in-crescent appears above the date letters ϹΣ (regnal year 206) with a monogram to the right; the month letter E appears in the exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and clusters of fruit, a characteristic border type of Mithridatic coinage at Pergamum. The three-line Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ (of King Mithridates Eupator) occupies the right field. The composition reflects the deliberate association of Mithridates VI with Dionysus as dynastic patron deity.
