| Obverse description | Diademed and bearded male head in right profile, rendered with fine Hellenistic portraiture of high artistic quality. The wavy hair is elaborately detailed, swept back behind the ear, with the royal diadem tied at the nape of the neck. The strong facial features include a prominent nose, well-defined brow, and short curling beard, characteristic of royal Pontic portraiture of the mid-second century BC. The bust is bare, truncated at the neck, and set within a broad, slightly irregular flan. |
