A grain stalk or palm branch rises from the lower right field. The magistrate's name ΜΕΝΕΦΡΟΝΟΣ appears in the lower portion of the field, while the ethnic legend ΑΘΗΝΑΣ ΙΛΙΑΔΟΣ is arranged around the periphery in two columns flanking the central figure. The composition reflects the civic coinage tradition of Ilion, emphasizing the cult of Athena Ilias, the principal deity of the city. |
