| Beschrijving keerzijde | Eagle standing facing on a thunderbolt with wings spread, head turned to the left, rendered in the standard Syrian provincial tetradrachm type. The eagle's plumage is depicted with fine detail, its wings outstretched to either side, occupying the majority of the reverse field. The Greek legend is distributed around the periphery of the coin, referencing Macrinus's tribunician power, consulship, and the title Pater Patriae. The composition follows the well-established reverse type used extensively on Syro-Phoenician tetradrachms of this era. The striking is typical of the provincial mint output, with some weakness at the flan edges. |
