| Obverse description | Heroic right-facing bust of Heracles in three-quarter profile, the head youthful and beardless, adorned with the Nemean lion skin headdress whose gaping jaws frame the crown of the head and whose paws are knotted at the throat. The rendering is bold and sculptural, with deeply engraved curling locks emerging beneath the scalp of the pelt, displaying the fine Hellenistic die-cutting characteristic of the Kolophon mint. The portrait follows the established Alexandrine iconographic tradition, presenting Heracles as divine protector and dynastic emblem. |
