| Obverse description | Facing lion scalp rendered in high relief, depicted full-face with prominent mane radiating outward in layered, wavy striations across the entire field. The feline visage is boldly modelled with deeply set, half-closed eyes, a broad flattened muzzle, and bared lower jaw, conveying a powerful archaic naturalism characteristic of Samian die-cutting. The mane is articulated with exceptional detail, with flame-like tufts rising above the crown and undulating locks flanking the cheeks and sides. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse. |
