| Reverse description | Highly stylised horseman (Kugelreiter type) galloping to the left, the rider rendered as a series of bold spherical globules atop a similarly abstracted horse. The horse's body is composed of sweeping curved volumes with elongated trailing lines suggesting the tail, while the legs are reduced to angular pellet-tipped stubs. Above the horse a prominent vegetal or floral symbol appears in the upper field, and a small triangular or triskeles-like symbol is visible in the lower left field. The entire composition exemplifies the advanced Celtic geometric abstraction derived from a Macedonian cavalry prototype. |
