Obverse description Highly schematized and abstracted Celtic head derived from the Macedonian prototype, rendered in the characteristic La Tène artistic style. The portrait is depicted facing right, with strongly stylized facial features reduced to curvilinear forms; the eye is rendered as a prominent pellet or ring, and the hair is indicated by flowing, ribbon-like strands. Scattered pellets appear in the field around the head. No legend or inscription is present, consistent with the anepigraphic tradition of Eastern Celtic coinage.
