Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a full, flowing beard characteristic of Hellenistic portraiture. The laureate wreath is rendered with naturalistic leaf forms nestled among the locks of hair. The portrait displays strong, idealised facial features with a prominent brow and aquiline nose. The legend ANTIOXEΩN KAΛAΣ is distributed in the field, identifying the issuing city of Antioch ad Meandrum and the magistrate Kalas.
