Obverse description Veiled and turreted head of Kore-Soteira facing left in high relief, her hair elaborately dressed beneath a stephane adorned with an ivy wreath, with long flowing veil cascading dramatically behind; the effigy displays the refined late Classical style characteristic of Kyzikene coinage of the period. The modelling of the facial features is of exceptional quality, with softly rendered cheek, downcast eye, and delicate lips. The legend ΣΩΤΕΙΡΑ (Saviour) appears partially in the upper field, identifying the deity as Kore in her aspect as protectress of the city.
