| Descrizione del dritto | Diademed and heroically portrayed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, with the ram's horn of Ammon curling prominently before the ear, a divine attribute associating him with Zeus-Ammon. The effigy is rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair swept back from the forehead and secured by the royal diadem, the locks falling in flowing curls around the neck. The facial features are idealized in the Hellenistic tradition, with a strong profile, slightly parted lips, and a youthful but commanding expression. The coin surface shows no obverse legend, the portrait itself serving as the sole identifying element. The die work is of high quality, consistent with the accomplished engraving tradition of Bithynian civic coinage imitating Lysimachean types. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Athena Nikephoros seated left upon a throne, wearing helmet and aegis, holding a small Nike (Victory) in her extended right hand and resting her left arm upon a large round shield set against the seat. A long transverse spear is visible in the background field. A civic monogram appears in the inner left field, and an ear of wheat is placed in the exergue, serving as a mint control mark. The ethnic legend ΚΑΛΧΑΔΟΝΙΩΝ is inscribed in the right field, identifying the issuing city of Calchedon. The composition closely follows the standard reverse type established by Lysimachus of Thrace, here adapted for autonomous civic coinage. |
