| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, deeply engraved curls framing the face. A prominent horn of Ammon curls behind the ear, identifying the subject as Alexander in his divine aspect as son of Zeus-Ammon. The portrait displays idealized, youthful features with a strong profile, slightly parted lips, and a fillet-bound diadem. The fields are unlettered, with the portrait occupying the majority of the flan in the tradition of Lysimachan coinage. |

A monogram appears in the inner left field, the city ethnic BY is inscribed on the throne, and an ornamented trident occupies the exergue, serving as the principal mint mark of Byzantion. |
