| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III (the Great) facing right, portrayed with the ram's horn of Ammon curling behind his ear, conferring divine status. The hair is rendered in flowing, deeply cut locks swept back from the forehead in the characteristic Lysimachean style, with fine strands framing the face. The portraiture is of high artistic quality, displaying the idealised heroic features associated with posthumous Alexander types. No legend appears on the obverse, the field being entirely devoted to the portrait. |
