| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with richly detailed, flowing locks of hair swept back from the forehead. A small but distinct horn of Ammon curls above the right ear, identifying the effigy as Alexander in his divine aspect as son of Zeus-Ammon. The diadem is tied across the upper brow with ends visible above the neck. The portrait displays the characteristic upward gaze and slightly parted lips associated with the idealized Alexander type established by Lysimachos. |
