| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with characteristically tousled, leonine hair and a prominent diadem. The small ram's horn of Ammon curls just above the right ear, asserting Alexander's divine lineage and his identification with Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is executed with fine sculptural relief, displaying the idealized yet individualized features associated with the posthumous Lysimachean coinage. The field is smooth and unlettered, with no legend on the obverse. |
