| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style with finely detailed, flowing curls framing the face. A small horn of Ammon curls forward above the right ear, emblematic of Alexander's divine association with Zeus-Ammon. The control mark IΠ appears in the inner left field, and the city ethnic BY is inscribed on the throne, identifying this issue as a civic posthumous striking of Byzantion. |
