| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III (the Great) facing right, adorned with the horn of Ammon curling behind the ear, identifying the portrait with divine Ammonite iconography. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition established by Lysimachos, depicting Alexander with idealized features and flowing hair beneath a royal diadem. The broad, high-relief effigy is characteristic of posthumous civic coinage struck in the name of Lysimachos during the late second to early first century BC. |
