| Obverse description | Youthful heroic head of Herakles in right-facing profile, depicted with strongly modeled features and draped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the gaping jaws framing the top of the head and the paws knotted at the throat. The curling hair emerges beneath the headdress in tight ringlets, and the field is bordered by a beaded dotted circle. The style reflects the posthumous Alexandrine coinage tradition adapted by the Thracian mint of Mesambria. |
