The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs in two lines flanking the enthroned figure, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander the Great. |

Struck at Sikyon during the decades following Alexander's death, this issue belongs to the long tradition of posthumous Alexander tetradrachms produced by cities and kingdoms across the Hellenistic world that retained his name and types as a monetary convenience rather than any political claim. Sikyon's mint operated intermittently under shifting Macedonian and Achaean influence — the city had been a major artistic center and retained minting competence accordingly. Price 709 places this issue within a tightly defined Sikyonian sequence distinguished by specific control marks.
