Obverse description Youthful bare head of the deified Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealized features, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion whose gaping jaws frame the crown of the head and whose mane falls behind the neck. The finely rendered curling locks of hair are visible beneath the lion-skin headdress. The field is plain and the coin is bordered by a dotted bead-and-reel circle.
