Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right-facing profile, rendered in fine high relief with idealized Hellenistic features. The hero is adorned with the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, its jaws framing the crown of the head and the knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The mane is rendered with flowing, deeply engraved strands cascading behind the ear and neck, displaying the accomplished die-cutting characteristic of the Macedonian royal mint. The field is plain, with no legend, the entire visual emphasis placed on the powerful yet elegant portrait.
