Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles facing right, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the beast's jaws framing the hero's crown and the paws knotted at the neck. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief Hellenistic style characteristic of the Pella mint, with finely modelled facial features, curling locks of hair visible beneath the headdress, and a boldly articulated leonine mane filling the field. The coin flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hand-struck issues of this period. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse.
