Obverse description Youthful, beardless head of Heracles facing right, the deity portrayed with idealized Classical features and rendered in high relief. The hero is adorned with the lion skin headdress, with the scalp drawn over the crown and the leonine jaws framing the forehead; the mane falls in bold, deeply cut curls behind the neck. The ear is naturalistically rendered, and the profile displays the refined Lysippan sculptural tradition characteristic of the finest Alexandrine coinage.
